Back by popular demand and now celebrating its farewell tour, the popular Barbary Coast Dixieland Band will make its final appearance in Sheboygan on September 13. They’re not just another band! This group is sensational, not only in its musical virtuosity, but in its ability to punctuate each concert with whim, wit, and zany comedy. Incredible vocals and a variety of special numbers are the seasoning to a well-blended performance.
Based in Minneapolis, since 1967 the band has set thousands of toes tapping at major night clubs, the Minnesota State Fair, the Ordway Theatre and hundreds of concert appearances in communities far and wide, as well as in the Minneapolis area. They have also played regularly on Mississippi paddlewheel boats and traveled overseas to Nagasaki Japan.
Led by Dick Petersen on banjo, the band includes Jim Ten Bensel on trombone, Tom Andrews on drums, Steve Pikal on bass, Fred Richardson on clarinet, and Russ Peterson on all the other instruments that one can think of.
