HOURS: Part-time, hourly, varied scheduled (2 hours prior to each event until the last patron exits)

DIRECT REPORTS: Event volunteers, security, and photographers as needed

About the Stefanie H. Weill Center for the Performing Arts
The Weill Center for the Performing Arts is a 1,150-seat live event venue in Downtown Sheboygan, WI. The Weill Center presents a series of live performances including music, comedy, variety acts, movies and more. In 2001 the theater was restored to its original Spanish Colonial Revival architectural style and atmospheric theater, as built in 1928. The theater is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This season the Weill Center will celebrate its 20th Anniversary Season.

Preserve this historic landmark theater in order to provide & sustain a majestic performing arts venue for the community and to serve the people of Sheboygan County and surrounding communities with the opportunity to enjoy cultural, educational, civic, and corporate events that will entertain and inspire.


The Weill Center, a historic entertainment venue and non-profit organization in Downtown Sheboygan, has the opportunity to join its team as a House Manager. The House Manager oversees all Front of House operations leading up to, during, and after an event. This includes providing customer service to patrons and renters, supervising volunteers, assisting with onsite event needs communicating with administrative and event staff, and enforcing policies and safety procedures. You will join the team during an exciting time as we launch the 2021-22 season with a lineup like never before.



  • Be present approximately 2 hours prior to the event
  • Review Day of Show document provided by Weill Center administration: time/length of show, intermission information, photography policies, prohibited items, security needs and door codes, lobby set-up, concessions, etc.
  • Assist with event set-up in the lobby, green room, dressing rooms, outdoors, and setting up concession stanchions as needed: placing tables, chairs, signage, linens, parking cones, cigarette receptacles, ticketing stanchions, reserving seats, turning on lights and digital displays, and more (may include light sweeping or snow shoveling)
  • Lead security walk through 30 min prior to doors open and assign security positions
  • Lead volunteer meeting 15 min prior to doors open - share important event detail with volunteers, distribute cash bags
  • Open the doors to patrons 1 hour prior to showtime (confirm with tech director)
  • Act as onsite contact for photographer as needed, provide appropriate credentials and communicate any restrictions
  • Meet vendors as necessary for event-related deliveries


  • Monitor the theater regularly, update staff as appropriate
  • Troubleshoot problems effectively and efficiently to ensure patron satisfaction and safety while serving as an ambassador of the organization
  • Enforce event and organizational policies. Carry out emergency procedures when needed
  • Maintain basic security of the facility
  • Maintain a high level of customer service with a large and diverse patron base
  • Communicate effectively with volunteers and other staff members
  • During school performances, ensure safe, expedient seating and dismissal of students
  • Provide concession closing cues, collect cash bags


  • Conduct merchandise settlements as needed
  • Lock the front doors after all patrons have left, turn off lights/marquee, reset lobby, secure the building once all other team members have left
  • Event tear down assistance: in the lobby, green room, dressing rooms, outdoors, and concessions as needed
  • Assist with changing the marquee as needed
  • Provide event report to General Manager summarizing the evening’s activities


  • Experience with safety/crowd control issues and event management is a plus
  • Excellent customer service skills are essential
  • Ability to obtain bartender’s license and safe-server certificate
  • CPR/First Aid Certification is preferred
  • Physical requirements: Stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, lift 25 pounds+
  • Project a positive, professional image of the Weill Center at all times
  • Flexible, adaptable, reliable
  • Self-starter, independent worker


  • $16/hour
