HOURS: Full-time exempt including, some nights and weekends

About the Weill Center for the Performing Arts
The Weill Center for the Performing Arts is a 1,150-seat live event venue in Downtown Sheboygan, WI. The Weill Center presents a series of live performances including music, comedy, variety acts, movies and more. In 2001 the theater was restored to its original Spanish Colonial Revival architectural style and atmospheric theater, as built in 1928. The theater is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

 

Overview

The Marketing and Events Coordinator is well-organized and a confident communicator. They are driven by providing the best experience for our guests, renters, and artists. They take initiative to execute marketing tactics and are enthusiastic about event logistics. The marketing and events coordinator is responsible for communicating regularly with visitors from show announcement to curtain call. The coordinator also manages artist hospitality to ensure a memorable experience for our performers. As a small team, this person is an integral part in shaping the future of our organization.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of the organization’s marketing and communications plans
  • Create and execute event-specific promotions
  • Maintain the organization’s communication platforms (website, eblasts, social media, email, event calendars, Spotify, Youtube)
  • Create content and design images for multiple platforms
  • Assist with production and distribution of marketing materials, including printed pieces
  • Coordinate advertising approvals with artist representatives and media partners
  • Conduct media research, write press releases, pitch and submit stories
  • Participate in community events and outreach initiatives
  • Secure event photography/videography as needed
  • Create and distribute meeting and event documents, organize files and photos
  • Participate in artist research and focus groups; make suggestions for upcoming acts
  • Facilitate artist transportation, hotel accommodations, catering, and hospitality
  • Assist with event set-up and tear down, including lobby, VIP parties, and artist areas
  • Assist with sponsorship activation and member benefits
  • Serve as event manager for assigned events: Act as liaison for tour managers, ensure enjoyable and safe experience for patrons, manage staff, troubleshoot crowd issues; conduct merchandise settlements, create event reports
  • Manage select rentals including weddings, birthday parties, special events, and more
  • Manage the organization’s internship program
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in marketing or related field
  • 1+ years of marketing and customer service experience preferred
  • Experience with live events and crowd control is a plus
  • Graphic design experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional time management skills, organized, detail-oriented
  • Must project a positive, professional, and polished image of the Weill Center at all times
  • Must be flexible, adaptable and willing to take on new tasks as needed
  • Must be willing to earn Beverage Server certification (for overseeing bar staff at events) and CPR/First Aid Certification

Benefits

  • Annual salary range: $40,000-$45,000 (commensurable with experience)
  • 10 days paid vacation
